By 2025, PKX is projected to handle 72 million passengers, 620,000 flights, and 2 million metric tons of cargo and mail annually. The airport features four runways and China’s most advanced automated air traffic control system, capable of managing all four runways simultaneously and handling more than 250 takeoffs and landings per hour.

Role and Airlines

As Beijing’s second international airport, PKX helps ease congestion at Beijing Capital International Airport. By the end of August 2020, 19 domestic and international airlines had relocated here, including:

China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, LOT Polish Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, and Air Macau.

Terminal Layout

The terminal has seven floors:

  • Departures: Levels 2F, 3F, and 4F
